A LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION A LITTLE MORE ACTION PLEASE

I am thinking Elvis had it right when he sang this classic tune, as all talk and no action doesn’t get us anywhere. If there is anything this past year taught us is that life is short, so just do it! As I am always telling my client, friends, family and anyone who will listen, it’s just baby steps people, and here are a few of mine that are all about beauty from the inside out.
1. Get rid of those dead skin cells. Whether on your face or body, dead skin cells tend to clog pores, deaden hair follicles and create flaky skin. Twice a week, add some exfoliation to your routine (no harsh chemicals needed) with a body scrub, lip scrub, glycolic acid or any type of antioxidant. Make it at least a Sunday morning or Sunday night ritual.
2. Move every day. A walk, a hike, morning stretches after your shower, leg lifts or squats while watching television, whatever you have the time for. Just don’t go to bed without some added daily movement.
3. Less is more. Skip the heavy makeup as often as you can and go for CC or BB creams, or tinted moisturizers if you don’t need as much as coverage. Give your skin time to breathe.
4. Try a new food or recipe once a week. I recently discovered dragon fruit which is high in vitamin C and other antioxidants, which are good for your immune system. It can boost your iron levels, important for moving oxygen through your body and giving you energy, and dragon fruit has iron.
5. Work to practice and understand mindfulness or give yourself 30 minutes of calm each day. If you have time to sit outside, do so and listen to nothing other than birds chirping or leaves moving from the breeze. If you are fortunate enough to have 30 minutes to bask in the warmth of a bath, do so without music or noise in the background. For those of you with large families, I know this isn’t easy, but try for at least a couple times of week for this type of practice. Trust me, it will make you smile and ready to take on the rest of your day or evening. You owe it to yourself and those around you.
